Obituary of Joyce Elaine Zink
Joyce Elaine Zink, 84, died peacefully of complications due to COVID 19, on Sunday, December 6, 2020; at Loretto Health & Rehabilitation in Syracuse, NY- where she resided in the Memory Care Unit.
Born on August 13, 1936, in Durham, NC, Joyce graduated from LaFayette Central H.S. in 1954. She was a JV and Varsity Cheerleader, active in Choir, and was honored to have been selected to play the role of Josephine in the school’s production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore. A homemaker and avid cook, she enjoyed gardening and especially loved caring for each of her 4 grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Les) Squire of Clayton, NY; grandchildren, Samantha Zink of Marina del Rey, CA, Shelby (David) Oster of Marblehead, MA, Alexander Zink of Long Island City, NY and Adam Zink of Syracuse, NY; her sister, Alyce Walburger of LaFayette, NY; brother, Kevin (Sharon) Mincey of Phoenix, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joyce was pre-deceased by her son, Stephen Zink, of LaFayette, NY; former husband, Stanley Zink of LaFayette, NY; parents, Adolphus and Evelyn Mincey of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Frieda (Billy Wayne) Jones of Rimrock, AZ and brother Mark (Nora) Mincey of Pahrump, NV.
A Private Memorial will be held at a later date in 2021.
