Obituary of Edward J. Cathers

Edward J. “Bub” Cathers, 51 of Syracuse, passed away on April 7^th surrounded by his loved ones.  Eddie was born on July 19, 1970 to Joseph and Faysa Cathers.  He went to work with his father at Benedict Floors and later joined the BAC Local 2 where he was a member for over 35 years.  Eddie went on to start his own business, 3 Generations Concrete with his sons and friends. Eddie was an avid sports fan.  He loved to watch, coach and play lacrosse, especially his boys.  He supported all ages and local talent.  Eddie loved to travel to watch his granddaughters and nieces compete in Smoke Dance competitions.  Eddie was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved.  His family meant the world, something he often mentioned.  He was unendingly proud of his children and grandchildren.  Anyone who knew Eddie, knew that he was the most loving father and “Tota Lug”.

He was predeceased by his mother, Faysa Cathers.

Eddie was survived by his beloved 1990, Sacheen Shenandoah; children, James J. Cathers, Cree P. Cathers, Kianna B. (AJ Bucktooth) Cathers and Dani R. Cathers and chosen son, Edmund C. Cathers; grandchildren, Carmen, Azelyn, Jayce, Chance, Konwenerataienn’i; father, Joseph P. Cathers; sisters, Gail Cathers, Julie Cathers; nieces, Allie Cathers, Jordin Cathers and Jamisin Cathers; nephew, Dallas Martin; many great nieces and nephew; cousins, aunties, uncles and friends; and last but not least, his “little partner”, Travyn.

Calling hours will be Monday, April 11, 2022 from 4-7PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY.  Services will be Tuesday 11AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
