Obituary of Spero Dardaris

Spero Dardaris, age 82, of LaFayette, New York died Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Syracuse, New York. Spero was born December 28, 1919 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Anastas and Bessie (Cico) Dardaris. He attended Vocational High School. He retired in 1991 after 30 years as owner and operator of Litho Services Inc. and he was formerly employed at Midstate Pringting Co. for 10 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he was a POW for three years, a survivor of the Bataan Death March and a Purple Heart recipient. He was often invited to lecture on his World War II experiences by local civic groups and schools. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1955 in LaFayette, New York and a member of several prisoner-of-war associations. He was the husband of Nelda E. Michel Dardaris who died July 25, 1994. Mr. Dardaris is survived by one daughter, Dawn Appel from Hilton Head, South Carolina; two sons, David M. Dardaris from Ballston Spa, New York and Damon P. Dardaris from LaFayette, New York; one sister: Connie Schadt from Camillus, New York; two brothers, Philip Dardaris from Camillus, New York and Ted Dardaris from Syracuse, New York; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral: Monday, October 14, 2002, 2:00 p.m. in Onondaga Hill Presbyterian Church, 4797 Makyes Road, Syracuse, New York with Rev. Bob Langston officiating. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York.
